T20 World Cup 2026: Trend to continue which tells every India-England semi-final winner has won the T20 World Cup?

India national cricket will play with England cricket team in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the iconic Wankhede stadium. This meeting of two powerhouses in the last four is the third straight edition, having also squared off in the semi-finals in 2022 and 2024. In year 2022, England finished campaign of India at the second-to-last stage and went on to defeat Pakistan in the final to lift the trophy. In the 2024 semi-final India cricket team beat England cricket team and carried that momentum in to final match, where they defeat South Africa to be crowned world champions in Barbados.

Interestingly, in both semi-final between India and England the winner eventually lifted the trophy – a tread that adds extra conclusion to high-stakes encounter of Thursday.

At the Wankhede stadium, England have played six T20Is, in which they won three and lost three whereas India have featured in seven T20I matches emerging victorious in five. Since December 2017, the Indian Cricket Team have not lost a T20I at this stadium.

Both team India and England have met two times at the Wankhede Stadium in T20Is, sharing one win by each team.

Overall, In the T20 World Cup history, both teams have faced off five times. India have won three matches while England have won two matches, underlining how evenly matched the rivalry has been on the worldwide stage.

After a heated exchange with Andrew Flintoff, Yuvraj Singh smashed six sixes in a over – which was the first instance of the feat in T20 internationals.
