Two-word message for Abhishek Nayar of Rohit Sharma after Indian team sacking by BCCI

While the side’s poor performance of Abhishek Nayar at the Border Gavaskar Trophy is being seen as a reason behind his sacking, some reports have made serious claims. Abhishek Nayar, who was worked since the last eight months with the Indian Cricket team as an assistant coach was dismissed by the BCCI last week. Reason behind dismissed of Abhishek Nayar was seen the side’s poor performance at the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Some of the reports have made major accusations. A report by PTI claimed that removal of Abhishek Nayar was on the cards after Sitanshu Kotak was added to the support staff of Indian Cricket team as an additional coach of batting.

“There was a review meeting organized by the BCCI just after the Indian team tour of Australia. Top board officials, which included secretary Devajit Saikia and vice-president of board Rajeev Shukla, were present along with Indian Cricket team’s important members, and the national selectors,” a BCCI source was quoted as telling by the news agency.

The source added “On the sidelines of the meeting, a powerful member of the support staff expressed his apprehensions about Nayar’s presence and said how him being in the dressing room is proving to be counterproductive. “While the BCCI didn’t act immediately but they brought in Kotak, the former Saurashtra run-accumulator. It was a way of side-lining Nayar during the Champions Trophy,”

Now, days after his dismissed Rohit Sharma has sent a two-word message for Abhishek Nayar. On his Instagram story, the skipper of Indian cricket team wrote: “Thanks Bro”. Along with it, Captain shared a photo of himself from Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings IPL 2025 match on Sunday. After the continuously poor batting performances, Rohit banged 76* off 45 balls.

As per report in Cricbuzz, Rohit Sharma had working with Abhishek Nayar even during last week in IPL. Actually, they have been cooperating from before the IPL 2025. Now Abhishek Nayar has joined support staff of Kolkata Knight Riders. Nayar and Doeschate were also assistant coaches at Kolkata Knight Riders and worked with Gautam Gambhir and won the IPL title of 2024 with him and skipper Shreyas Iyer.
