Umar Nazir Mir : Tall Jammu and Kashmir pacer who finished Rohit Sharma’s Ranji Trophy return after a long 10 years

Umar Nazir Mir of Jammu and Kashmir completed with 4/41 against Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game. In the four wickets one of wicket was of Rohit Sharma along with Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Tamore.

On Thursday Umar Nazir Mir taken hold of the headlines when the Umar Nazir Mir taken wicket of India skipper Rohit Sharma who returned Ranji Trophy after 10 years. 6 foot 4 inches tall pacer outwitted Rohit with a rising short-pitched delivery that touch the bat of Rohit and went straight to Paras Dogra at short mid-off.

Umar accounted for Ajinkya Rahane, Hardik Tamore and Shivam Dube to complete with figures of 11-2-41-4. At the BKC Ground, Mumbai were all out for 120 in their first innings.

Umar is from a small town in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, Malikpora. Umar has faced early struggles in his life before making his name in the India’s domestic cricket. Legendary Glenn McGrath is his idol, Umar Nazir Mir big frame and height mad him a nightmare for the opposition batsmen. In the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy he was also selected for in the India C squad.

In the List A cricket, Umar Nazir Mir has gathered 57 wickets while in T20s, he had 32 wickets. His best performances came against Services last year in Ranji Trophy when he picked 6/53 in Srinagar.
