The Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, announced 15 member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World cup which will start from 3rd October and end on 20 October 2024 in UAE.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian women’s cricket team while Smriti Mandhana will be the vice-captain.All-rounder Deepti Sharma will take the charge of spin department along with left- armer Radha Yadav.
Yastika Bhatia and Richa Ghosh will the take the charge of wicket-keeping in the team. All-rounder Shreyanka Patil who is yet to recover from an injury she suffered in the Asia cup has also received the nod.
Inclusion of Yastika Bhatia and Shreyanka Patil in the women’s Indian squad is subject to fitness clearance.
Pooja Vastrakar, Renuka Thakur along with Arundhati Reddy will lead India’s pace battery.
India have made just one change from the Women’s Asia cup team in Sri lanka with Yastika Bhatia replacing Uma Chetry in the Women’s squad.Uma Chetry, meanwhile, has been included in the travelling reserves along with Tanuja Kanwer and Saima Thakor. As Harman Preet’s side was defeated in final by hosts Sri Lanka by eight wickets in Asia cup.
Campaign of indian women’s squad will start against New Zealand on 4th october 2024 before a blockbuster clash versus Pakistan on 6th October 2024.Both matches will be held at same stadium Dubai International stadium.
Indian women’s squad will also face six-time champions Australia and Sri Lanka in Group A. In last month only India had lost to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final match.
