WADA had pleaded to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) against an independent tribunal’s conclusion in August to clear Sinner of wrongdoing after three-times major winner failed drug tests.
Jannik Sinner World number one tennis player has accepted an instantly three-month doping ban following the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) told they had reached a settlement on his period of unqualified, Reuters reported, The report added, this would make Jannik Sinner eligible to return before the French Open in May.
WADA had requested urgently to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against an independent tribunal’s decision in August 2024 to clear Sinner of wrongdoing after the three-times major winner unable to pass drug tests, the report added.
In February, Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Australian Open crown, but had tested positive for anabolic agent clostebol which he told had go in his system from a member of his support team through massages and sports treatment.
According to report, Jannik Sinner’s ban began on 9th February 2025 and which will end on 4th May 2025. He may return to training on 13th April 2025.
The French Open main draw is scheduled to start on 25th May 2025.
Reuters quoted WADA as telling in a statement on Saturday ” WADA confirms that it has entered into a case resolution agreement in the case of Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, with the player accepting a three-month period of ineligibility for an anti-doping rule violation,”
“WADA accepts that Mr. Sinner did not intend to cheat and that his exposure to clostebol did not provide any performance-enhancing benefit and took place without his knowledge as the result of negligence of members of his entourage.”
The report again discussed that the case against Sinner was set to be heard by CAS in April 2024 and Sinner was in danger of being banned for up to two years.
