Rajasthan Royals (RR) continued their unbeaten run by chasing down a target of 202 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a high-scoring clash with multiple swings in momentum at the ACA stadium in Guwahati.

While knock of captain of Rajat Patidar steered RCB to a massive 201/8, it was the teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi who with a blistering 78 off only 26 stole the headlines to lead pursuit of RR of the target. With this win, Rajasthan Royals made it four wins out of four to start the IPL 2026 season – this was third time they have done so – with eight points to lead the league.

Rajasthan Royals opted to bowl first after a rain-delayed begin in Guwahati. Jofra Archer produced a cracking delivery to dismiss Phil Salt for a golden duck hence the decision bore immediate fruit.

Despite the early setback, before Archer and Ravi Bishnoi responded to leave RCB reeling, Virat Kohli (32 off 16) and Devdutt Padikkal counter-attacked in some style. Before Bishnoi struck in both his first overs with the wickets of Kohli and Krunal Pandya, Archer sent back the in-form Padikkal for 14 and RCB were pegged back at 62/4.

Rajat Patidar, captain played a quintessential anchor-turned-aggressor role. 63 off 40 balls of Patidar was the backbone of the total of RCB, featuring four towering sixes. While Jitesh Sharma and Tim David – on the back of his blistering 70*(25) versus CSK -also fell cheaply, Rajat Patidar firmly held at the one end. After quick cameo of Romario Shepherd of 22(11), Rajat Patidar changed gears and brought up his 50 off 35 deliveries en route to 63.

Just when RCB needed a big complete, Venkatesh Iyer with quick-fire 29* off 15 stepped up in the last over propelled the score past the 200-mark. Bishnoi (2/32) and Archer (2/33) were the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan Royals.
